What makes Proud Potato special.
• Our potatoes are mostly grown locally at Oxspring near Penistone. The varieties we use are intended for jacketing rather than chipping or boiling. We are in close contact with the farmers who grow them so we know that whilst not having organic status, they use traditional methods of cultivation.
• Our objective is to serve only freshly cooked potatoes. Cooked potatoes are kept only for half an hour after which we consider them to be past their best so we throw them away.
• Our fillings are prepared on the premises by our fully trained staff using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The recipes we use have evolved over 26 years to their present high standard.
• Proud potato is a family run business, owned by Phil Waldron since 1982.
• Hygiene is a huge priority at Proud Potato. Food temperatures are constantly monitored and recorded and safe food working practices are strictly followed. This is why we score highly when assessed by the environmental health officers.
No expense is spared on cleaning materials and equipment. We follow the guidelines explained in “Safer Food, Better Business”’ published by the Food Standards Agency.
• Our potatoes are approx. the following Sizes:
Uncooked weight, (625 g) Large.
